Ford Focus Sedan
One of the best handling small family cars on the market with loads of interior space PLUS three adults can fit in the rear.
The interior isn't particularly exciting...nor is the outdated 4-speed automatic transmission.

![]() Design and Engineering |
Good | The wide cabin width creates impressive interior space whilst underneath the skin lays a well engineered sedan. Externally, the 2008 facelift brought with it a larger front grille and an attractive headlight design. |
| Not so good | To our eyes the hatch does look better than the sedan. The big changes will come with an-all new design due to go on sale in Australia 2011? |
|
![]() Interior and Styling |
Good | The steering wheel has both tilt & reach adjusters and all the controls are clear and simple to use. There's decent space inside (especially for second row passengers) and a huge boot. |
| Not so good | Cabin doesn’t feel particularly special, plus there's a lack of storage compartments and drink holders for second row passengers. The driver’s seat is set too high and doesn’t feel 'sporty' enough? |
|
![]() Performance |
Good | Although it's getting on a bit, the 2.0L petrol engine still offers sufficient power and torque. |
| Not so good | The 2.0L Duratec engine can feel a little underpowered when overtaking at highway speeds, especially with the auto. The 4-speed auto is well behind the leading competitors here. |
|
![]() Ride and Handling |
Good | Excellent chassis dynamics, class-leading steering and precisely the right level of road feedback. |
| Not so good | Too much road noise in the cabin; well behind competitors here. |
|
![]() Buying and Owning |
Good | The Focus Sedan is competitively priced for the Small car class. |
| Not so good | The current shape Focus is getting towards the end of its six-year life cycle... |
